Next version will be cleaner, but still pretty dirty. I don't have the time or motivation to dig through all the files. I've also intentionally kept in a lot of clothing mods that the dialogue doesn't use, just so people can use what they want without having to move everything over from their loader.
I've integrated it into one installation with sby's and Willie's, and it all works just fine. Please don't expect me to sympathize with your laziness; I know how much work I had to do because you couldn't be bothered.

I've asked about fixing the configuration four or five times to different people, I think I even asked in this thread, but I don't think anyone's figured it out yet. I've already spent too much time trying to fix it on my own. Though if someone has a lot of time to burn or knows a lot about it, I can send over what I've got.
I can look at it. You could copy/paste it into spoiler tags here, or PM me.

Ah yes, my laziness. I've probably put 40 hours into this. Wonder what you say about all the people who put in 3?

And all that hard work you had to do to get a functioning dialogue somewhat more functioning. I feel so bad for you, bro.

You're the only person I've talked to that hasn't been able to get it to work, so gj there.

Also, you generally shouldn't offer someone help after trying to provoke them and derail their thread. It's rude.

So no thanks, I'm busy with things atm, but I'll get it done eventually. Better that then having to deal with another dickhead on the internet.

I don't wish to fuel a flame war here, but actually I couldn't get your bundle to work either. It took me awhile to realize you hadn't put the dialogue in a character folder, and instead had to hand load it through the dialogue tab, but when I did, only the first line would try to fire and would fail for some reason. I didn't feel like debugging it, and it seemed others were having issue, so I was just going to wait for a resolution. Are other people getting this dialogue to work out of the gate?

You're sure you've turned on dialogues in the options menu? That's the only way I can recreate what you're describing, and so far it's got a 100% fix rate when someone messages me about it.

Thanks, that did it. I didn't even realize that the option existed, and I guess I didn't scan your thread close enough to see that solution mentioned. Is there a reason you just don't package it all up as a character instead of having the player manually set options and load up your dialogue from a specific location?

I said I did get it to work, but that was in spite of the installation problems.

You know, I gave Willie shit about this, and I'm being twice as harsh on you for distributing your mod in an isolated installation instead of developing for breadth of compatibility with other developers (though Willie did set that terrible precedent has probably still doesn't question the wisdom of it.) The only good reasons to release an installation is to give an example of how one should be put together, which at least Wille's does, or to show how broken it is and ask for help, which you should be doing.

And 40 hours put into a mod still doesn't impress me. Quit whining.

I recently remarked in the chat box about how the SDT forums seems to be an anomaly on the internet. A site devoted to cartoon blowjobs has some of the most civil forum discussions around. But if you allow me to quote from some recent posts:

"Please don't expect me to sympathize with your laziness"
"I feel so bad for you, bro.
"Better that then having to deal with another dickhead on the internet."
"though Willie did set that terrible precedent has probably still doesn't question the wisdom of it."
"And 40 hours put into a mod still doesn't impress me. Quit whining."

Fleack and Jase, come on guys! We are all here, making and consuming weirdo porn for free. Let's enjoy ourselves and not turn to stereotypical internet douchebaggery. Let's be better than that!

And as to my wisdom regarding bundles, I do have a retort, but I'll save it for later so as to not fan any flames.

If you wanna be an asshole, send me messages instead of taking over my thread. That's all I ask.

I don't need some guy coming into my thread telling me that my dialogue's configured "so poorly that I doubt you could've successfully loaded it to playtest your own dialog." and that I'm lazy. This, after 3 people total of the couple thousand downloads have had an issue getting it to run.

Can I request a mod to delete all these posts? Not a fan of the random trolls.

Thanks.

I've also still got that question from the first page about how to get DA to load bg's from the mods folder instead of the INIT folder, Willie. Fixing that would let me set everything up in a standard way. Any idea yet?

Edit: Figured it out.

Haha these made me laugh, but are so true! Preach it Wille!

Also Fleack, I think you said you've figured it out, but just in case, here's a direct quote from SDTDialogueActionsv3.05's "About filerefrerences.txt" in it's Documentation for Dialogue Writers:

"One of the features that DialogueActions contains is the ability to load external files from a Dialogue.
This feature is used for loading hairs, dialogues and backgrounds on the fly.

How do you use these?
Well, lets say you want to have DA load a background.
This is done by setting the background variable, like so:
{"set":{"da.background.load":"filename.png"}}

The background variable should be set to value containing a name or path of a background image.
The FULL path is
(Loader.swf location)/Mods/(Last loaded CharacterFolder)/<backgroundvariable>
Just install DialogueActions in your $INIT$ folder.
So lets say you have your DialogueActions dialogue in a testing folder, called "LoaderDialogueMods".
And the loader is installed in a folder named SDT. What's above that isn't really interesting.
The path we'd be looking for would be
SDT/Mods/LoaderDialogueMods/<backgroundvariable>

If you set background to "bedroom.png", the path becomes
SDT/Mods/LoaderDialogueMods/bedroom.png

This means that you should add a bedroom.png image file to the folder you store the dialogue that uses DialogueActions.

When bundling files with your DialogueActions, create a character folder and store everything in there.
Do NOT place files in the $INIT$ folder. If everyone did that, people's $INIT$ folders would get clogged up, and your dialogue may get loaded or may load something you didn't intend."

- So basically set up a Character Folder in you loader's "Mods" folder named your dialogue. Update your "CharacterFolders.txt" in that same "Mods" Folder" just like the other mods in there. Then stick your Dialogue (name it Dialogue.txt) backgrounds (".png"s, The first one you want loaded can be named BG.png and it'll automatically load) in the character folder you made, then when you want to load a background in your dialogue, say after the first dt, just write in your dialogue:

first_dt:"going to change the background now"{"style":"Him","set":{"da.background.load":"[the file name of the background you have in your character folder goes here].png"}}

- and instead of having [the file name of the background you have in your character folder goes here] just put the name of your file name and remove the "[" and "]"

Does that make sense? Sorry if you already figured it out but just thought I'd tell you in case you didn't :)

the loader has a setting:
dialogueChecked=1

that will prevent people from forgetting to enable dialog in the menu due to sdt not having any in-game savedata

as for jase, it would be great to have helpful feedback without the attitude or bullshit. it is not like we are obligated to deliver perfection, or really anything in that matter. a little appreciation would be nice, and if you do have issues with stuff that is being provided for free, commenting back without the disdain would reflect a little more positively on the forums.

Re: Fleack's Dynamic Dialogue Alpha - Mom Version *Poll added 1/31*

To Fleack:

Just wanted to say thanks for this dialogue, I've enjoyed the hell out of it so far! I also appreciate the fact that you're working on improving it. And I especially like how nasty it is, I'm glad it's more about the sex and less about being romantic. This is easily my favorite mom/son dialogue! Keep up the good work! ;D ;D

A couple bits of (hopefully constructive) criticism:

* Personally, I'd love to see an intro, even if it's small. Even if it's something as basic as: [black screen] Mom's been teasing you for months. Her clothing has gotten sluttier and sluttier, and her flirtatious hints about having a sexual relationship with you have been getting more and more obvious. She needs it. You want it. Now you've decided to do something about it.... [start dialog]

* I like the pull up / down to change her mood score easily, but I'd like to see it progress more slowly (like 5-10 points at a time) and have more variability in her responses. Specifically, to have her more reluctant/less adventurous at neutral moods (say, at mood=50) then progressively more slutty/enthusiastic at mood=70 and even more so at mood=100, and vice-versa as you go down in mood, towards mood=0. That would require something like 5 sets of responses for her (instead of the current 2-3?), which I admit would be time-consuming. This could work whether you have all positions available at all mood levels or not (the mood score just affects her reactions to the position and not the availability of the position). I might be off with my numbers, but you get the idea, to make progress more obvious.

TL;DR - Awesome work! I'd like to see an intro and even more mood-based reactions from the mom!

I don't know if this is a current unfixed glitch or I'm just doing something wrong but are backgrounds supposed to change automatically depending on dialogue or only manually through the custom tab?

when I load an outfit i just get a blue background.
love the game and i can't wait for the update!

Normally, in games, I like to see some development in the game mechanics. Things start out simple, then get more complex (and harder) as you go on. But SDT isn't exactly a 100 hour long RPG with a background story going back hundreds of years. This is a glorified masturbation aid, so I'd prefer not to have to spend a lot of time 'unlocking' positions, dialog responses and things like that.

I feel you struck a decent effort/reward balance with your first release, in which the dialog tends towards a certain direction without requiring hours upon hours to reach, figuratively speaking. I think adding more different 'end games' would be nice, but I wouldn't like it if those end games were significantly harder to get to.

Unlocking could be annoying when the dialogue is played multiple times

There's a cheat menu where you can boost or lower her mood to whatever you want. So if you're willing to click 2 buttons, you get all the positions anyways.

Also, all the technical problems in the previous version are fixed. No one told me that you can fix everything just by adding a few lines to the settings.txt... Next version will setup identically to Willie's.

Also also, the next version is done. It just needs play-testing to fix whatever issues are left, and I don't really have the time to do it. If you want to play-test it and are capable of properly testing all the new game mechanics/willing to write down and communicate the issues you run into, send me a PM.

Great dialogue and simulation code!! This is probably my favorite on here so far. Looking forward to the next version/updated version. Oh and the 3-way cheerleader thing sounds like a winner to me! Thank you! 8)

Yeah, I dunno how doable the 3way is with the current mods. Maybe in the future with the addition of some of the suggestions I've had for DA/animtools.

Also, could really use a few more play-testers. This dialogue is massive and I don't have time to go through everything.
