The fatalities in this game are so great. I don;t want to get ahead of myself, because it's not even out yet, but from what I've seen so far it may well have the best "executed" (harhar) fatality system of the entire series. There's a lot of inventive, painful, slow, and/or just outright brutal finishing moves, and the camera angles are spectacular. As some people have noted, the focus is far more on the victim than it has been in the past, particularly the post-fatality camera shot. This has been a problem in most (all?) of the 3D Mortal Kombat games so far: in many of the fatalities, the final cinematic shot of the match, the one you can hold on screen the longest, has been of the victor. Sometimes the victim is included - Sub-Zero's Spine and later Torso Rip, Baraka's Blade Lift, Zombie Lui's Body Possession, and so forth - but most of the time the victim's body is off-screen and forgotten.

I'm still not warming to the character models. Mileena's in particular is a disappointment, although I've never been much of a fan of Mileena or of all the porn-attention her costumes have earned her, so it's a mixed blessing. HOWEVER, Kitana's MK2 costume is all I need. It's in the game, it looks fantastic, I'm happy. Also, Kitana's alt looks nice in action! Similar to the MK9 Primary, only slightly less slutty. I feel bad for fans of the other girls, I really do, but maybe you guys (and gals!) can come join the Kitana Krew? We have cookies.

Not sure what my favorite finishing move is yet. I'm getting this on PC, and when the game comes out, I'll have to make videos and do some in-depth reviews for each of the fatalities. So far, I think the ones I'm most fascinated with are Scorpion's face slice (slicing someone's face off seems to be a popular animation in this game) Mileena's torso feast (again, not usually a fan of Mileena or yuri ryona, but I love love LOVE torso rip finishers, and the way her victim tries to crawl away is reminiscent of Hsu Hsao's MK:DA and Sub Zero's MK:Dec finishers, both personal favorites of mine from their respective games), and Quan Chi's deepthroat sword split (OBVIOUS oral sex subtext, complete with gagging noises). I'm also really digging Kitana's finishing moves, which is a nice change of pace, since historically the only fatalities of hers that are any good tend to be the Kiss of Death ones.

So here's some news: (spoilers for those that care about the story)

While sindel will not be playable, she's more than just a story character. You actually get to fight against her chapter 10/11. Gameplay seen here:

So for us this means you can make sindel videos, with the catch of only getting to use cassie cage (unless there are more of these). This does also open up more possibilities for characters like Li-Mei and Rain who are also in the story, but not playable, to be characters you get to fight against.

This is kind of big news for me since I was under the impression that you would never get to fight as/against any of these characters since they weren't really in the roster. Apparently even though you can't play as them, they are ready for kombat in terms of game requirements.

This also opens them up to being more likely candidates for DLC. It might even mean that modders can make them playable right at the get go, since the assets are already in the game.

TLDR the "available roster" is more than the available roster in terms of available game resources.

I liked the scene of Cassie getting beaten by Tanya even if now she's actually ugly. To be honest I will always prefer the oldschool Tanya from MK4 and Gold because there she was really hot and deserved some ryonas and hentais for being the babe of the game (I prefered her than Sonya in my MK4 times). Since her second apparition in MK Deception Ed Boon turned her in pure trash with this ridiculous loose hair and savage clothes. The real Tanya is that with ponytail and slut clothes with a dat ass being showed and with a extremely sexualized fatality to do. With this "new Tanya" I just would like to watch her as a dominator punishing Kitana and Cassie but a ryona of her as a "prey" would not be THAT good. Well, anyway we still can get good results using this character.

Pffft, I was. It's 1:30 in the morning and the game is DOA. Oh, they got the newfangled "Sign Me Up for a Multiplayer Faction (whether I want to or not)" menu working, but everything else CTDs.

I should have just fucking waited and pirated it like a normal human being...!

Steam question: is there any way to edit your username and mask your ID? I don't use Steam, in large part because of bullshit like this, and I'm not so sure I want to be playing online (given our interests) unless I can somehow mask my ID.

Also, what's the typical wait time on actually being able to play games you've bought on Steam? An hour? A day? A month? All I wanna do is chop a couple chicks in half, I mean come on!

Ferra/Torr and Kotal Kahn look good non-guro ryona. Especially Kotal Kahn has some nice grabs + bearhug fatality :)
I'm hoping to see them as aggressors in upcoming videos. EDIT: Goro also seems ok.

What's your preference so far as non-guro ryona goes? I could poke around and see what's available in your fetish. Like onlinehero says, Master Blaster and Not Shao Khan are both "heavy hitters" with wrestling type moves, which seem to be popular on this forum.

I think my favorite move so far, though, is Cassie's X-Ray. I lol'ed; between nutshot X-Rays and Selfie Fatalities, she's the best.

I think that Kano has good beating holds, the Commando type of combat, I've seen really good moves in the character showcase against D'Vorah....hope someone will create some videos like that, with punches, kicks and low blows!!!

About characters Cassie second outfit (the sport outfit) seems my favourite for now!

Has anyone figured out the modding protocol yet? I've been trying to work out how to get Kitana's Royal Storm variation to wear her blue mask, and her Mournful variation to wear no mask. The variation costume feature is kind of pissing me off, to be honest, but so far all I've managed to do is crash the game trying to edit the files.
