Day 1 DLC is pretty much ALWAYS bullshit. That being said, it's a bit more palatable if it's for purely cosmetic stuff.

Anyways, for those interested, Kitana gets hit by Ermac's X-Ray at around 21:28 and gets fatalitied by Reptile at 50:13.

Yeah, I've been watching those Reptile and Kitana fights all afternoon. I love how she gets ended cruelly in both major matches (perfect way to introduce her character), and Reptile's tongue bondage/ dangle throw is going to be super sexy. The pre-match taunting is awesome, too - it really helps set the story for what's to come, and I can't wait to start hearing what other banter is available!

What's up with the Jade thing, then? Is she confirmed dead? As I've mentioned in previous posts, I'm not following the game too closely, at least not now that I know Kitana is in it, as I'm already buying it and don't need to get hyped up so far from the release date. I noticed a lot of Jade fans were leaving angry comments on some of today's Reptile vs Kitana ryona edits; I've never been too fond of Jade so I can't say I'm personally affected by her absence, but I do understand what they're going through, because if Kitana was axed I know I'd be pissed and probably wouldn't buy the game.

As for DLC, while I'm still OK with her costume choice, I would easily pay fifty dollars for a DLC slut costume.

When Kitana was about to get fatalitied by Reptile, I was like shut up I want to hear her scream. Shame they wouldn't stop jabbering during the fatality. On the DLC note, I'm really hoping they don't go too overboard with DLC like DOA5. Extra costumes are great, but having that many makes me wonder whether most of those should just be in the game when it ships out. There's no need to nickel and dime the customers if you're shipping a great game, which I have a feeling MKX will be.

With how much it costs to make a game these days I don't blame companies from trying to get more money the second a game is put out. As long as DLC is optional, reasonably priced, and adds something truly extra, I'm okay with it. Additional outfits are a generally a good example of this for me.

I have to respectfully disagree on a couple points. I've felt burned on several full-price purchases only to find that a good 40% of the content is locked on the disc or having extra content being outrageously over-priced.
I like games being rewarding me for doing well and completing challenges. Getting me more things to toy around with because I earned them is fun, even if it were simple cosmetics like costumes. I can't stand paying full price or more, and being told I have to keep paying to get what was originally rewarded to me just for doing well.

That said, I do understand that game development is expensive, and with each new console generation companies are seeing diminishing returns. So I see why some companies resort to these more-or-less underhanded tactics just to break even. I'm just tired of it.

But hey, all of Netherelams previous titles got "complete" editions, so MKX likely won't be any different. For those of us to which money is an issue, I say hold off until then.

Also, what you guys think about the new Kitana face when unmasked? she's more beautiful now but I still prefer her using mask. Its like a fetish thing. When she's masked she gets hotter.

Her unmasked face looks pretty good, especially for Netherrealm. They've never been very good at faces, especially all of the horrid faces from Injustice.

Looking at those makes me wonder. Are we going to have the same amount of battle damage that MK9 had? I know battle damage had to be a lot lighter in Injustice just because they're superheroes and the T rating kinda dictates that but hopefully in MKX we have some serious battle damage. Kitana's alternate in MK9, when it got beat up, was really really really sexy.

Good question, I didn't even realized the "ryona issue" in battle damages. They need to fix it to be like in MK9.

Same, although I might wait for the collector's edition with all of the DLC. Kitana has always been my punching bag, and I see no reason why she isn't going to be in this game. Hopefully more female characters get announced before release date OR if another fatality on Kitana without people commentating over it.

Hell yeah.Watching her die in such a high-profile manner is always a turn-on; there was the famous Joker fatality reveal from MK vs DC, the Cage fatality reveal from MK9 (where the chick cracked a joke about motorboating Kitana's tits), and now Reptile putting our heroine down (TWICE!) in her first ever televised appearance. In a way, it reminds me of when I was a little kid, watching fights at the arcades; cheering her on, but part of me excited by the fear of seeing her destroyed. The finishing move itself was nice, a mix between his MK4 move and the various Acid Puke fatalities of MK3, SM, and 9. I prefer the finishing moves where he eats her, though, so I can't wait to see what other fatalities that waifu-killing asshole has in store for Kitana!

As for her face, it's OK. Better than her face in MK9, that's for sure! My favorite Kitana face is still MK2, followed by MK Gold, but as you say, Dat Mask is the way to go, regardless. I am definitely a Mask fetishist; even in porn, where she's been stripped otherwise naked, her sexy little mask is so hot that I want it to stay on.

Speaking of the commentary, what are y'alls thoughts about commentary, in general? Talking over her death scene was more than a little bogus, but I've found that commentary can sometimes make videos better, particularly when the commentary is super-aggressive or antagonistic, and the video is of a ryona situation I've already seen many times already.

I enjoyed listening to them talk about the designs and stuff, that was pretty cool, however, during the fight scenes, I'd prefer if they weren't talking and just let the viewers soak in the deliciousness that is a new fighting game.

Mortal Kombat X Story Trailer

NetherRealm Studios released a story trailer for Mortal Kombat X which reveals a lot of characters present in the game. Here is the video:

WOW so many reveals from that video.

So confirmed now are like 8-10 characters that will be in the game (not necessarily playable) that we didn't know about before:
Takeda, Kung Jin, Mileena, Jacqueline, Sindel, Erron Black, Rain, Shinnok, Li Mei, and likely Baraka.

Unfortunately, it has been said by Ed Boon that only 5 of the revealed characters are playable:

Which means that a good chunk of that reveal are NOT playable. Sindel looks like she's using an MK9 model so I'm inclined to think she's in the NOT list. Hard to say right now what's what with that list and all of EB's trolling though.

I don't think they'd put in new guys in the story and not have them playable. So Erron, Jacqueline, Kung Jin, and Takeda are likely playable. Also Mileena has a new model of her own and is a key player in the storyline as well as an overwhelming fan favorite so she's probably the 5th playable character. At least, that's what I'd assume.

But, Ed Boon basically trolled (aka confirmed) that Rain, Smoke, and Tremor will be in the game:

Meaning Rain should be one of the 5. So one of the new characters in the trailer will not be in the game. Or Rain won't.

Oh game developers. When they troll their audience it's just so interesting to watch. That tweet made me laugh though, jeez Ed Boon must be having fun.

Yeah, the thing with Ed Boon is, he's a master prankster. Ever since MK1, he's been riddling his games and press releases with trolls, lies, red herrings, and inside jokes; it's part of the MK tradition, one of the things that gas made the Kommunity so strong. We'll know what's what when the game comes out; until then, he's just gonna keep fucking with people.

My favorite one was the Zebron reveal from MK:DA!
