I wonder how long we'll have to wait for CrimeCrasher...
Is there any progress?

There's a new trailer for the Toxic Crusaders game which is coming this year. I think there are some female baddies at 0:14 in the video and a female boss at 0:43 who attacks by grabbing, kissing, and tossing the player aside. I need more female bosses like her in other beat 'em ups.

Arc System Works released a new trailer for Double Dragon Revive. The female baddie wearing a long sleeve vest and pants appears at 1:35 1:46 1:57 and 3:05 with a close-up view at 3:21. A similar enemy wearing a short sleeve vest appears at 2:51 and 3:12.

I hope the final version has a more visual pop to it. It's a little beige for my liking.

TIL there's a PS2 version of Die Hard Arcade / Dynamite Deka:

Apparently you can also play the original version on it, too!

Oh yeah, I remember this. It has that sexy bikini zako Madame Chicago!

I even made 2 Stash folders containing screencaps of both the PS2 version and the arcade/Saturn versions of Madame Chicago

There appears to be a new beat 'em up that's totally not God Hand called Forastero coming to Steam. The first female baddie appears at 2:22 while two more appear at 2:36

There's a new OpenBOR beat 'em up that just came out on Steam called Buccaneers: Shipshape which serves as the official sequel to the Buccaneers arcade game from 1989. The original game did have some female baddies, but they were only bosses which you can see the remake at 6:18. I hate that the female bosses appear in a stage with a sloping gimmick that pushes everyone downward, and you can also fall off the left or right side of the stage.

I'm genuinely surprised to discover female zako enemies in the newly released Ninja Gaiden: Rageband. Regardless of which character the player controls, these female enemies are cut down just as ruthlessly as their male or fiend counterparts — a rare and interesting choice in modern action games.

Here are the female enemies I suspect based on in-game appearances and audiovisual cues:

Green Devil Ninja

  • First appearance: Around 0:50
  • Wields a short sword and charges aggressively at the player. While her face is obscured by a mask, she has a clearly feminine voice and a long, flowing braid, both strong indicators of her gender.

CIA Military Female Zako

This section is particularly intriguing — a group of heavily armed female enemies appearing as part of the CIA forces:

  • Flamethrower Unit
    • First appearance: Around 1:40 in Stage 4-1
    • She's notably muscular and wields a flamethrower. Despite her combat gear, her attractive facial features and long yellow braid strongly suggest she's female.
    • Flame.jpg
  • Grenadier
    • First appearance: Around 3:00 in Stage 4-1
    • Her voice when throwing grenades has a slightly feminine tone, and she has orange hair with a shorter, more compact frame, leading me to believe she's female as well.
    • Grenade.jpg
  • Shielder
    • First appearance: Around 0:33 in Stage 4-3
    • She rushes at the player with a spiked shield. The long braid, feminine voice, and visible bust make it quite clear that this enemy is female.
    • Shield.jpg
  • Assassin
    • First appearance: Around 0:46 in Stage 4-3
    • Wielding dual daggers, she moves swiftly and her voice is unmistakably feminine, making her identity even more evident.

Following up on the Ninja Gaiden Zako, the new Shinobi: Art of Vengeance also has several female foes.
An archer with her shirt off the shoulder and a ninja with twin kama at least.
On the road so I can't rip any images but ninja games are doing well this year.

Is anyone looking forward to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction? Evil-Lyn is the only female villain so far.

Apparently made by Bitmap Bureau, the same people behind Final Vendetta. And speaking of which, the hot buff boxer babe Karen will be playable in the Neo Geo version, soon in the console/PC version:

The playable Karen and the zako Karen has some differences, like extended moveset on the playable Karen as well as a more feminine voice as opposed to the zako Karen's more gruff and tomboyish voice

They would need to lean into She Ra content to get many female foes. As She Ra is a playable character, perhaps there will be a Horde DLC with all of her enemies.
Even then, few of the original cartoon female enemies were physically imposing.
While I personally would find a new SheRa style Scorpina interesting from a variety is the spice of life perspective, it would probably rankle too many of their target fandom.

Huntara may be an option, but her 80s look was still fairly thin, just very toned.
