Over the years (!) lots of familiar, vaguely familiar and downright obscure games featuring the wonderful (or not so wonderful?) lady's now known as zako have been discussed. This discussion usually focuses on identification, literal content, different versions (if available) which is then supported by video, screenshots and hopefully fan art.
Whilst there are have been a reasonable number of games which feature zako in one way or another over the years, they still remain a varied and valuable commodity. Wouldn't it be great if there was one place everyone could use to see every (or almost every zako) in existence, listed by title, systems and criteria, Excel style?
For example -
Title: Streets Of Rage / Bare Knuckle
Systems: Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear
Genre: 2D Fighting Sidescroller
Zako:uniform-dominatrix-escort
Frequency: Common (or uncommon, or rare criteria)
Attacks / Attributes: Whip strike, 'fake crouch' move, unique movement & high health
Notes: Palette swaps by stage, strength and rarity
Title: Die Hard Arcade / Dynamite Deka
Systems: Saturn, Arcade, PS2 (Remake)
Genre: 3D Beat 'Em Up
Zako: Criminal-thug-punk, jumpsuit-uniform, performer-lingerie
Frequency: Uncommon
Attacks / Attributes: Complex, varied and strong attacks including grabs, throws and prone. Use of pistols and knives, clawed variant
Notes: Taunts frequently (also while player engages other enemies), health regeneration on zako winning prone if would be depleted, zako are arrestable, more zako with 2 players.
And so on! I hope such a project would be of interest to others. Even if only a small amount is covered, over a long period of time, it's better than nothing. I'm sure there are those of us here who could cover a lot of ground.. Because not only is watching videos and looking at screen shots is good, the unique experiences of meeting these zako in game is something special. Plus there might be the bonus of more exposure, and more fan art!
