What are your thoughts on AI generated fiction? I've been playing around with an AI chat bot and with a bit of massaging, it can generate some fun stories. I was surprised at how violent and brutal some of the stories turned out, despite the fact that violence was supposedly not an OK topic. Sometimes, it would object because I wanted to describe cruelty and torment, but when I deleted those words, the story that it generated would use those words. The writing quality was pretty decent and the stories were readable and made some sort of sense. It is terrible with details. If I put someone in a handicap match, she would start the match off fighting 3 people, then midway she would be fighting 4 and suddenly one of the characters would have a gender swap for no reason. However, the stories were surprisingly readable

The minus of course is that it's not really your story, it's the AI's story and you lose a bit of your voice. But you can steer the story into some strange directions

What are the thoughts on sharing some of the stories? They're not written by me so I can't really take any credit, but they don't really belong to anyone. I was wondering about the ethics of posting such stories

PS This very post was not written by an AI, I swear

Would be absolutely amazing to have AI generated ryona content. Whenever some ideas pop up in my head I want it generated on demand? Give it to me man. Even better if it can generate pictures that would really be the icing on the cake.

I'm a little hesitant to really go too hard with ChatGPT and others as I'm not sure how much information is reviewed/documented. But I did play around with a somewhat "horror" movie scenario and agree about the violent/brutal options it did come up with. I think as long as you can avoid certain keywords and treat it more like, "give me examples of what this thing could do if it got ahold of its victim", it can come up with some decent options.

I used it more as inspiration and to help think of example scenarios, encounters, enemies and creatures than to actually create the story itself. Creatures worked well, but thugs and villains was kept at a high level at least when I tried it.

Something to play with might be, here's a massive brute of a thug, he's easily twice the characters height and fights with his bare hands. What kind of attacks might he be capable of? When it gives you examples of attacks, ask for it to elaborate and give more details/examples of specific movesets. Problem is sometimes it just kind of parrots back what you ask on top of whatever you were asking for it to explain more of though. IE, how could the main character be able to escape the brute's grab attack? It's answer could be, "the main character blocks the grab, dodges the grab with their speed, etc"

An example result I was able to get was the following:
If the character is caught by the worm, what might happen?
The worm could use the victim as a breeding ground: The worm could use the victim as a breeding ground, laying eggs or reproducing in some other way using the victim's body.
Can you elaborate on this example 6? (note - it gave 6 examples)
Sure, if the giant, carnivorous worm in example 3 uses the victim as a breeding ground, it could mean that after capturing the victim, it would lay eggs or reproduce in some other way using the victim's body. This means that the worm would use the victim's body as a host, to continue its reproduction cycle. Here are a few examples of how that could happen:
  1. Egg-laying: The worm could lay eggs inside the victim's body, using it as a safe and protected place for the eggs to hatch and grow. The eggs would consume the victim's body until they hatch, and then they would emerge as fully-formed worms.
  2. Parthenogenesis: The worm could reproduce asexually, using the victim's body as a host for its offspring. The worm would use the victim's body to create new worms, which would then emerge from the victim's body, after consuming it.
  3. Parasitic reproduction: The worm could reproduce by attaching itself to the victim's body, and then using the victim's body to nourish and grow its offspring.
  4. Reproduce by implanting the worm's cells into the victim's body, these cells would then grow, and take over the victim's body, creating new worms.

At one point I ended up going a little too far and unfortunately got flagged so I stopped the experiment and left it at that.

One thing you can try is "generate four power moves that Unnamed Brute might use. Describe them and generate names for them." Something like that. As for the "how could Unnamed Heroine escape this move or counter that move," the AI gives some pretty bs answers like "Unnamed Heroine used her skill and experience and knowledge of fighting techniques" or something about determination and overcoming all odds. You can tell it to write a story about a toddler fighting a 3 on 1 match against 3 men with body builder physiques and when you question the AI how a toddler could possibly win, it would tell you that it is possible that the toddler overcame all odds using determination

Your worm example is pretty brutal, lol. You can try something like "Why is Unnamed Heroine so afraid of these worms? Write a story about Unnamed Heroine's mental state as she thinks about what might happen if the worms caught her." You might need to add something like "stop the story at this point" or "do not write about Unnamed Heroine's encounter with the worms," since the AI likes to just complete the story and have the Unnamed Heroine overcome all odds and defeat the worms (with no explanation of course)

Haven't tried a human foe yet and may consider it when I revisit this, was a little underwhelmed with some of its examples for when a heroine loses against thugs so I never pushed further with it. In terms of avoiding/escaping attacks, that's pretty much exactly how the AIs response for escaping attacks ended up being  Including some BS they had other powers/abilities to escape.

For the story piece you could have it write the whole story and then have it rewrite, alternatively ask for a story with a dark ending where the bad guys win. I haven't tried yet as I was looking more for ideas/scenarios when I was playing with it. But there's some potential, if not just for inspiration.

For reference when I got flagged, I asked for the villain to taunt the heroine lustfully as she was defeated by the creature. It did exactly that and then understandably flagged the response halfway through haha.

I've had AIDungeon write some nice scenes (it requires an account to enable adult stuff). Though it required a lot of rather specific prompts from me. Left alone it doesn't take much for the story to veer way off course. And I would often have to re-generate entries, because they tend to contradict the previous ones. It's also worth noting that the language itself is rather poor - repetitve, with short, simple sentences. And it has trouble parsing relatively complex sentences in prompts (e.g. describing several actions by multiple actors).

But yeah, I was able to generate stories with very explicit, even outright pornographic descriptions of physical and sexual violence against various zakos (police women, gangsters, elves, gladiatrices).

I really hope that didn't get me put on a list somewhere lol.

As much as I am in love with GPT3.5-turbo right now, it is tricky with violence. Sex stuff can be more easily jailbroken out of, it's more like getting past a dog fence, in my experience while sometimes insinuating nonconsent at all will cause the agent to clutch its pearls and shut down. As an alternative NovelAI is absolutely shameless and will do anything gladly and while not nearly as optimized for chat interactions, shows its best in the fiction writing category. I mean it when I say they are giving zero fucks and proud of it over there. Also Kobold Horde always has a couple of Erebus's running if that tailored experience is worth the wait times and other limitations. To get a try at what I mean on NAI if you get on an account open up Clio and just write

and run it a few times for some treats.

Using open-assistant, with the first prompt being "this is a noir novel".

Prompt:
Samson's first encounter was the sniper Gabriela sitting in the woods on a hill behind the house, watching over it. He approached her with a silenced pistol, confirmed her identity with his memory, then took her down permanently before she noticed him.

Output:
Samson emerged quietly out of the dense foliage, studying the figure perched atop the grassy knoll overlooking the beachfront mansion.

Samson closed the distance slowly, methodically, careful not to alert Gabriela to his approach. With each step through the tall grass, he readied himself mentally and emotionally, knowing this moment could change everything. He watched as her attention remained focused intently on the sprawling mansion below, oblivious to the shadowy figure closing in on her.

Finally, within striking range, Samson raised his silenced pistol, steadily aligning the sights upon the base of her skull. Time seemed to slow to a crawl as he hesitated just long enough to ensure proper identification. Confirming her identity without doubt, he pulled the trigger, feeling the recoil snap against his wrist and hearing nothing but the soft whisper of compressed gas expelling the deadly projectile.

Without so much as a twitch, Gabriela crumpled forward, her lifeless body sliding down the gentle incline towards the waiting bushes below. Samson stepped carefully over the body, retrieving her crossbow before disappearing deeper into the forest, leaving behind a tragic reminder of the cruel reality that surrounded them both. The silence of death hung heavy in the air, broken only by the distant sound of waves crashing against the nearby shore.
