In mission mode, all characters are initially available. In scenario mode however, characters need to be unlocked.
Ryona:
-Slashing and lots of blood if you so choose, but no guts or dismemberment.
-If a character's stamina runs low, you can perform several environmental stealth kills on him/her.
-Characters can be knocked down, and subsequently smacked (beautiful yet subtle flinch as far as Chiba is concerned), but it very rarely happens.
There are no alternate costumes and very little to unlock. To make matters worse, the game is exceptionally hard and finished scenario mode data can not be carried over to another game. A lot of the game's better features are based around online play.
