ryonanixp is a copy of xp you can use with vmware to have your computer emulate a preconfigured copy of xp that will run most of the games on this forum fine(never used it so can't say much more about it) if your on vista or 7 and your computer can't run the game due to symbols etc then go

and i just got hit by selective blindness as well didn't see the XP will leave these steps for incase someone else rams into a wall

-start
-control panel
-category view mode
-clock /language/region
-region and language
-administrative tab
-change system locale
-japanese
-apply, hit accept restart your computer and the game will run and your computer will be in japanese mode to swap back re-follow these steps and select your desired language instead of japanese.

Ok, I'm on the home stretch I think.
I've 'finally' got the game to work [using RyonaniXP], I even did the whole DOS translate step and waited for it to process, installed the J-RPT file too... the game.. works.. per say.

A few issues though:
- The main menu is still in japanese, not english like how the screen cap in the OP is detailed.
- Despite running the DOS exe and having it process the file... the game is still running in Japanese.
*Hitting F4 to reduce it's size helps immensely, windowed mode FTW!
*Windowed mode also stops the game from carrying on like it's the end of the world [no more frantic speed FTW!]

For reference, I'm using the 111215 version.

EDIT Note: Using the rpg_trans_v1.91 yields results, the DOS window pops up, I hit 0 and it does it's business.
However, when I try using rpg_trans_v1.95, a much smaller prompt comes up [which isn't a DOS window], asks me to plot out the path of what I'm patching and where the patch is, then asks me to hit the big square "Start" button and........ nothing happens... at all. o_o

EDIT, EDIT: No wait, that's not entirely accurate... it makes a txt document that doesn't contain anything.

EDIT, EDIT, EDIT: Went waaay back to vr 111211, it works! Translation isn't quite as.. ermm.. english orientated as I've seen in screen pics:
Example: In the OP under translation method, the main menu lists it as "New Game", "Continue", "Close" whereas in the one I'm playing it's listing as "From the beginning", "From continuation", "Is closed". Is that a step infront or behind or what was listed in the OP because I'm really not sure. xD

but at least I can make heads or tails of what is being said. Started on a carriage and am talking to random folks.. idk if this is how it's suppose to be but i saw music and sound files in the game but am hearing neither, is that... normal?

But hey, a victory, finally! Got it to at least start! :D

One question though... which VH download is the latest one? o_O

if you use the partial patch from roguetranslations and then use vk's machine translation for the rest of the content you get a much better quality translation. version VHゲーム01_111216 is the newest as of yet I believe.

Thanks thanatos7

I'm on Rogue Translations page but... where do I actually find the download link?
All I can find is a blog of what he (or she?) has been updating lately, not any actual downloads. o_O;;

Also, the RPGMaker Trans v1.95 doesn't do anything, that is to say.. it may do something for others, but for me it just sits there displaying "Ready" in the bottom left corner of the bar... despite me assigning a task for it to go and DO SOMETHING. Why... please tell me why it refuses to do anything. T_T

EDIT: Is this game known as "Monster Girl Quest" now, or is that a different game entirely?

EDIT, EDIT: *deep exaserbated sigh combined with headdesk* x_x
I'm starting to question if this is worth it, I WANT to play it, I do.. but... y it no work as illustrated!? :C

Because you're not using the right unicode settings, I bet. They need to be in Japanese the entire time to properly run the game and RPGmaker trans because the game uses JP characters in its filenames.

Honestly, your best bet is to download VMWareplayer and RyonaniXP and just copy the files you want into that. It runs VH just fine with no problems.

Okay. the "from the beginning", "from the continuation", and "is closed", is correct. He changed the way the translations were done since that screenshot was taken. For the latest version, click the link in my OP, and you should see a list of a whole bunch of dates. The dates are a bit different as they go, YY/MM/DD the latest one being 11/12/25 which is december 25th this year.
It sounds to me like you have everything running. There is no music on the carriage scene, just some low rumbling kind of noise. If you are using vmware you may have to assign your speakers to the virtual computer running in vmware player. Been a while since I used VMWare. To get off that starting carriage go all the way to the bottom and talk to the guard. after his dialogue you can go back to where you started and sleep to kill time. There are a few other ways to get off the carriage train too, you can actually game over here too.

Give up now and all this work will be in vain. RPGtrans or w/e isnt doing anything? I thought you said you got it sort of translated and it didnt look like the pictures in my OP? Your information conflicts a little here. Also Monster Girl Quest is a different game.

Sorry for late reply, I just tried this quest real quick myself with a fresh game on debug mode, and didn't have to do anything before entering the building. So I'm not sure what your problem is. (assuming you are at the correct building :P Top left exit from the main street, then up one map from there, and its the house all the way to the left with the metal double doors and vines.)

wow lol. i went directly up in that area into the literally largest building just like it says in the wikia lol. i didn't even notice the house in the left side. much appreciated.

i have a question just for my own satisfaction. are your allies able to get raped or impregnated and through what method? i stripped them and i run around the enemys but they are ignored. im thinking you could since i see pregnant pictures of most in the game files.

Excuse me but can somebody tell me how the hell do I get the sewer key???? I checked out the walkthrough from scratchpad but I just can't get the sewer key for the kill slime king quest (and consequently can't activate the murder find quest to get Lynn)

Take the top left exit from the main streets (after accepting the quest obviously:P). On that map go to the large building on the left with the red banners. Inside should be a couple of soldiers behind a counter. Talk to the soldier closest to the door to get the key.

Not that I know of. If you play debug mode, theres an area in Onsen town that will let you swap characters. And you can actually play as those other characters. It seems like those files are there for testing purposes, and possibly for future updates as all H Scenes will still revert to Nanako. Serena wasn't playable normally until fairly recently, about a day after I made this thread actually.

i see, thx. thats interesting.

Forgot to mention. If you go to the goblin dungeon and defeat the goblin cheif to get the goblins pearl, you can get the goblin bride "ending" that will allow you to join the goblin tribe (Thats a lot of goblins!). Once you join them you can actually go and capture Lynn and Ashley(the blue ice girl) and make them into goblin brides as well. You can then actually switch characters and play as them in that way too. Once you do all the goblin quests you will get the game over where Nanako will become corrupt (purple skin, black sclera[white of your eye] and with white hair) after a breif dialogue explaining that, it's game over. Can't play as evil/corrupted Nanako. :( So you might be able to get them pregnant in that way too if that's what you want. You can also have them join your party once they are captured by the goblins IIRC.

I did that but nobody gave me the key... did I miss something?
