got a strange problem
somow the menu switchedd from x to w while playing but the w button ist so far from the z button how to change it back?

i think it happened in doing the herb quest with serena. i jumped into that little lacke in and out to see if there is somthing hidden in the waterfall ~

Can't say I've had that exact issue. Usually when my controls stop working for any reason (sometimes I couldn't even get past the main menu), I'd log out of my windows user account and log back in. It worked for me every time. Not even sure why. Sorry I can't be of more help than that.

Im having an issue, when I play the game it seems to work fine, everything in order. But when I close the game and go back on it later the saves files haven't, well, saved and so I have to start from the beginning again (or use those weird default saves... don't know if they're supposed to be there?). Is there anyway to fix this? I've been trying for hours but nothings working.

Wouldn't be the first time someone ran the wrong executable and hence landed in the wrong directory/path. Are you running the game through a translation/locale tool? Is the path 100% correct (not running an older version or raw version or the fork by accident)?
The default save files are supposed to be there, most of the releases have contained saves (I remember only one exception to the rule). If your path is correct, check that the save files themselves are not write-protected. Nothing short of re-extracting the package should reset the save files by recreating the "default" files.
PS. If you're sandboxing the game or using some other form of virtual environment then that would be the only other source of interference I could think of, as sandboxes are designed to not keep the changes made during operation.

I set my computers system locale to Japanese, so I didn't have to run it through a tool. Its windows 7 so I don't think that there is an issue (but if that's it there's nothing I can do about it). However, it opens with WinRAR and it gets all pissy at me when I try to find the paths of the save files. I'm going to keep trying but im not very good at computers to be honest so all help will be welcome. I think this is probably the problem.
Its not in sandbox or anything like that and the files aren't write protected. Re-extracting doesn't do a thing either. I don't know if it has any relevance to this issue but opening any files require you to input a password and there I a little star by the file names. Also the file aren't .rar, they're .Imu and the saves themselves are .Isd - like I said, these could have no relevance but I believe all info helps in some way.

Okay, going into a foreign locale like that is probably messing up the extraction path. Find a package you can extract without changing locales, and I recommend you run the game through ChiiTrans. I had difficulties with locale changes, but ChiiTrans has run everything 100% and gotten rid of the path errors - also, don't put the package in root or on desktop or other special system folders, make like C:\Games\VH01 folder (Games is in C root, VH01 is not). No special characters, no spaces, no long names etc. to make sure the path will work.
The package password is standard procedure for the VH01 project and the asterisk in WinRAR just means the file is password protected.

Argh! Now two errors are appearing; firstly ChiiTrans tells me this W The remote server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable and the game itself tells me "Cannot open vehicle file"/ファイル乗り物は開けません
Doesn't matter anymore, somehow I've fixed it. Thanks so much for not only your help, but the fact that you've been able to put up with a complete computer n00b.

I need help I have tryed multiple things from reinstalling everything related to the game to downloading it all a new no mater what I do for some strange ass reason The only buttens that do anything in game are (Esc) and (Alt) no other buttens do anything and I don't know why this is happening anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it or how it happened in the first place please help
edit also I can't go past the main menu since I can't move up or down the options and all Alt dose is select stuff and all Esc dose is cancel or go back so I wind up stuck in a loop please help this just started out of the blue and I don't know whats causing it I downloaded multiple versions of the game but they all have the exact same problem so it's not the game it self even older versions are doing it please if anyone knows a possible cause for this please help

Hi so I have two weird errors. The first, is when I try to switch to Serena, the game crashes, and also I'm stuck on the mission in hotsprings town where you have to escort the horse train. Once I destroy the powerhouse of the train, the next door I try to load through, the game crashes, and it gives me an error message in Japanese. I translated it, it's something about not being able to load npc010. Please help
