Please help me with modding for this game.

I am trying to mod the background of higher resolution for this game. This game has only one resolution: 1024x600, with either Windowed or Full-screen Mode. This is the original in-game screenshot:
And this is basically the same scene when I replace the original texture with new 1920x1080 one:
As you can see, the Texture asset does not fit into context Window. And I need to mitigate this to be able to mod this game.
So I need help to:
+ Config something to make the 2D texture to fit the context.
+ Maybe set the default resolution to something higher than 1024x600, like 1600x900.
