ive already looked into the werewolf replacer and unfortunately the texture looks like a scanned picture and just doesnt look right to me.
It's a
raster image. Raster images tend to clash with the art style of SDT, but they give us another option in the creation of SDT mods. A raster image can potentially be
cropped from an existing illustration and turned into a PNG hair import without doing
any work in Flash or writing a single line of code. There are also many artists who are already familiar with raster tools.
SDT uses
vector artwork for most of its vanilla assets. A vector-based mod tends to blend in more readily with the SDT art style, but it's unusual to find vector source files. A talented modders who can draw original works in vector format and then animate them in Flash, but there are very few people who possess the necessary combination of creative and technical skills. Projects involving vector artwork often begin by
tracing a source image (which is similar to cropping, but more labor-intensive) - or the projects may require collaboration between artists and programmers.
Please understand that each SWF mod involves several hours of work, and that there's a large backlog of requests which will
never be completed. If you want to see your project fulfilled, then try to make it as easy as possible for modders. Find images. Describe how the mod should work. Show how things could fit together. Help out with tracing and testing. Offer feedback on any WIP files. Show that you're committed to the project.
i would prefer some kind of anime dog that goes well with the art style which is actually animated instead of a background image.
That's a good start. But the purpose of a Request thread is for
you to find an image which depicts the thing that you want. After that's done, artists or modders can step in and apply their own special skills to the project.
Imagine that someone rushed ahead and created a mod right now ... and then you tell them "that's a Shiba Inu; I wanted a mastiff instead!" They'd be upset at wasting time on an unnecessary task.
So in this case, we're looking for:
- an anime-style illustration (or screencap from an anime video clip)
- which depicts a dog
- in side view
- which includes at least the rear half of the dog and its tail (front half is optional)
- which includes a reasonable level of shading and artistic detail (i.e. not a flat-color image, but not a realistic photograph either)
- it does not need to be a pornographic image or depict any genitalia
Let's consider an example.
This image is
not ideal because it has low resolution and limited detail, and because the dog is walking rather than standing still. You might also prefer a grey or brown coat instead of a white one. So please try to find an image which has all of the features that you're looking for (except the penis). Then we can trace your image into vectors, fit it onto the SDT template, and try to turn it into a working mod.
You can help out by sketching out a possible fit. Once you've found a suitable reference image, try to crop out the dog and then paste it on top of a SDT screenshot so that we can see how things might be sized and posed. If the image
doesn't fit well (or clashes with the SDT art style), then that might indicate that it's
not actually an ideal reference shot.
P.S. You can search for horse images (or think about horse-posing options) while you're waiting for modders to get involved with your project.
