Hello D Dubois Jean . Welcome to the Undertow forum. If you haven't already done so, then please take a moment to check out the Request Rules. You haven't done anything bad, but reading the rules will help you to understand how SDT mods are created, and enable you to make your Request more convenient for modders.

Mariah - Part 3

The character design includes a hooded jacket. In the SDT modding system, hairstyles and clothing mods are implemented separately. There are many artists who can draw hairstyles (usually in PNG format) but who don't get involved with SWF clothing mods. So there are a few options here:

• try to find a reference image which shows Mariah's hair without a hood
  • an artist can then create a PNG file for you
• ask for the hood to be drawn into the hairstyle (example)
  • the hood won't actually be attached to anything.
  • if the girl is wearing a color-matched shirt then it will probably look okay. If the girl's shirt is removed then the detached hood may look strange.
• ask for the hairstyle to include only the visible stuff (i.e. the bangs and sidelocks), then use it in combination with an existing hooded jacket (example)
  • the hairstyle could then be created in PNG or SWF format
    
  • please be sure to tell the artist which jacket you intend to use -- so that they can fit the hair "underneath" it
• ask for the hairstyle to include only the visible stuff (i.e. the bangs and sidelocks), and also ask for a new jacket mod (note: you'll need to provide good reference images for the jacket)
  • in this case, you'll probably need to wait much longer

Regardless of which option you choose, it would be a good idea to find additional references. The current image has high quality, but it uses "nighttime" lighting. SDT gameplay scenes (and art assets) typically use "daytime" lighting, so an item with harsh shadows tends to blend in poorly.

Aya tsugi - Part 4

Try to find an image which shows the full hairstyle. This one is cropped off; we don't see the end of the hair strands. Many types of images can be used: anime screenshots, fanart, official artbooks, etc.

Reimi sugimoto - Part 4

This hairstyle is asymmetric. Your image shows the left side of the girl's face. We can use left-side views (and simply mirror them), but it's best to say so explicitly. The artist will then know what you want and won't hesitate before starting to work on your request.

If you want the right-side view (i.e. the girl's eyes obscured by her hair) then you'll need to find a right-side reference image.

You should also try to find a larger image (with a higher resolution). This one is okay, but it's a bit small.

D Dubois Jean I've actually created Mariah in my collection using the default Rei hair and some editing. Not as good an actual import of her but I think it'll do nicely for now.
