Thank you that was the problem. I kept typing in vh as the password.
Ok I extracted it and there are two apps labeled RPG_RT and RTP_RT_FatalMix2010.
When I click either of them I get a message that says 'RPG????2000?????????'.
How do I play the game?

http://download.tkool-online.com/rtp/2000rtp.exe Download and install the japanese RPG maker. Once it's installed it should load right up. I dont know what the fatalmix2010 one is. RPG_RT should start the game once you have that installed. Remember to have your computer in the japanese system locale, or else installation will fail.

I'm stuck on the Merchant Escort Quest.
It was the cutscene before the final boss, but when they finished conversing, my character didn't show up as the screen rolls down.
And nothing ever happens from there.

Sorry I've no clue. Last time I tried to do that quest, it gave me a warning that said it was unfinished and not to save during the quest. Back then it didn't get nearly as far as that. My best guess is it's still unfinished. Sorry I can't offer more than that, if you can even call that anything.

Did you extract the game while in japanese unicode settings (or using applocale on WinRAR). I THINK that error occurs when it sees symbols it doesn't recognize. Which will happen (it renames the japanese characters to nonsense) if you extract the game while not in the japanese system locale.

I got stuck in Merchant Escort quest.

As usual, talk to the guild master. Afterwards go to building North of potion/clothing shops.
Find Erika and Benetta in the building. Enter the room they are standing in front of.

but I can't find the building (or any room Erika and Benetta standing in front of). Can someone please show me where?

Well, I didn't get the warning, so I assume it's finished? I think there's some broken event flag here...
Cause I've crash at different place on this quest once. (Switching to Eirica) Restarting the quest solve that problem.
Then again, I don't know Japanese, so I probably missed the warning. Good thing I still have a save before quest.

I'm not entirely sure, I haven't done that quest in forever. And I was doing another playthrough and I somehow completed all of Onsen town on accident before I could take the quest (which isn't supposed to happen, I'm not supposed to be able to save Ashley untill everything else is done). I did load your save and try it, and it froze up on me as well, though I forgot to post that, oops.

You can say it means that all your programs will start in the Japanese language by default, and it is necessary for some Japanese games to play. You can find more information in this article and in this section's sticky threads.

What's with all the zapping? I go out to fight the goblins, but these "bolts of lightning" keep striking Nanako and bring her HP all the way down. Second bolt, and poof, she's in the hospital. What are they and why do they keep on interfering? It's really starting to piss me off because I'm not able to enjoy the game.

Never mind. Figured out the debug tool. Now the game's fun.

Hello... I've played the game and I use the latest ver. 130222 iirc and it's translated one, not original. I done all quests up to the 2nd part of "thieves hideout" but the game froze after defeating the leader...why??

Because I want to see Rin x Nanako goodies the things I done are:
1. I edit my savegame (in normal mode) tweak the stats 300-ish and enabling "debug tool" in my inventory
2. Play normally all the quests and save before the scout report back to the guild
3. When reaching that 2nd part and defeating the leader it just froze (to be precise, it froze after Ashley regain conscious) ...reloading, using the book on the right guild master and up my level to 20-ish (Nanako suggested about it in-game) with it and it STILL froze

Do I have to play it normally (without using any save editor or the book guild) or is the translated have a bug? OR do I have to play it with AGTH? I sucked with it...

(also, is there any way to skip that quest/event?)

I think it's the translation. Try getting through just that scene without it. I'm not 100%, but I think something similar happened to me when I was using the translation patch a long time ago.

I am having so much trouble with this. :( I realize this is a sort of dated forum post, but hopefully I can get some help.

Basically I did everything in Neon's? post, but I have rpgmaker_trans_v1.99.7z instead of 91, since that was the latest one on Habi. Other than that I've done everything right, there's a few more files in the folder but I figured that was just because of the updated version, but RH, RHpatch, and RHtranslated are all in there and yet when I run it it's still completely in Japanese. Any advice?

And I tried downloading a prepatched English translation, but it doesn't have very much translated.

Edit: Never mind, I figured out the problem. The link given in Neon's post no longer has the specific patch one...the link got deleted. Anyone have a link to a patch that matches the game?

Haha, dated post. I check almost every day to see if someone posted asking for help. So the thing with that translation tool is, there isn't anyone actually working on translating the game right now as far as I know. So no I can't provide you with a more updated patch, because I don't have one unfortunately. Sorry I can't be of more help, maybe someone will pick translating back up, but as the game gets updated so often people just don't want to keep up with it. I'll be glad to help with any other questions, should you run into issues. Though I wonder if you'll even check this forum again or if you registered just to make this one post.

Hey there, I'm having trouble when trying the play the game, I'm using ver.130704, both the original and the english pre-patched version. I have the RPG Maker RTP 2000, I have extracted it while on Jap Locale and I believe all of that is well done, but when I open it and appear in the title screen, I can't do anything. The controls won't work or the whole keypad doesn't do anything, the only thing that works is the 'R' key, which when pressed a small window opens up with some japanese text in it and then closes. The same happens with older versions. I would really like to play this game, if anyone could help it would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks in advance.
