WHAT ARE "SINGLE SENTENCES OF RYONA"?

Some of you may already know what this post is about; for those of you who don't, the idea is really quite simple. This is a thread, open to everyone, in which you may post any number of self-contained, one-sentence long ryona stories. There are no rules - any victim, any situation, and topic - beyond "keep each scenario to a single sentence" (a popular variation is the "Single Paragraph of Ryona", but let's how the Sentence version goes over before moving on).

Different people treat SSoR in different ways - as a writing exercise, for brainstorming story ideas, as a way to cut the foreplay and skip to the moneyshots, or even as a forum game. If you feel like writing, but haven't the time nor inclination to slog through nine paragraphs worth of exposition at the moment, give this thread a try!

You are encouraged to submit more than one sentence in each post, for ease of reading and to prevent spamming, but remember: no full-length stories! Make 'em all self-contained! Hermetically seal those fuckers!

The last thing Sakura heard before her skull met the pavement was the cruel, mocking laugh of her unstoppable opponent.


With her flavorful bouquet of flesh, bone, leather, and gunmetal, the fat mutant frog fancied Rebecca Chambers to be the most delicious morsel he'd ever tasted.


A single mighty punch and Kasumi crumpled to the floor!


There was no pain as the zombie bit down on Maggie's chest, only warmth; warmth and joy, for she knew that her sacrifice meant her friends would live to see another morning.


"I should probably put those back inside me" thought Kitana, numbly, as she stared in quiet shock at the length of intestines uncoiling from her severed waist.


Stephanie's eyes went wide as a deer's as she clicked through Pixel's browser history; what is this "Ryonani dot com" ...?!

Question: are we allowed to use each others sentences as a jumping off point (i.e. could I write about what happens after Kasumi falls to the floor?) or should every post have its own independent single sentences?

This would be considered spam anywhere else... I dunno, we already have the Punishment Series thread for short entries. We're trying to say that a single paragraph is too long now so we cut it further into a sentence?

As a mod, I look at this as spam, but I will leave the judgment up to the administrators. As a writer who just spent almost four months writing something, I am.... not a fan, to put it as lightly as I can.

I really don't see how this could be considered spam. As the topic creator stated, it works well as a writing exercise and for brainstorming. It's also a good entry point for people who might be creative but not have the time to dedicate to putting a full or even a short story together. This can only promote a sharing of ideas and that's a good thing.

A single, succinct sentence can create some vivid imagery. As they say, "brevity is the soul of wit".

Being able to capture vivid imagery and compelling narratives with but a single sentence is actually quite difficult to do, and it's a useful creative writing exercise for anyone, from beginners to porno-Tolstoys. It's also a great way to get people who don't have a lot of time to spend on writing internet smut involved in the writing process!

Hey, it's a free forum! The one thing I'd say is that SSoR aren't really meant to form extended narratives, and it's easy to slip into a "telephone" thread situation; you know, where the thread winds up being one single story, only told sentence by sentence, post by post. BUT, if something someone else wrote inspires a sentence (or even a full story!) of your own, then there's no reason you shouldn't take advantage of this opportunity. I'd say yes, feel free to use jumping off points, but don't feel obliged to do this.

Kano stood laughing over Sonya's spasming blood stained and battered corpse.

With her arms hung high over her head and suspended in the air, a pool of blood began to form under Blaze's beaten body.

For Kitana, the stroke of death was as a lover's pinch... mostly because it was delivered by Lui Kang.

And after Lex Luthor destroyed supergirl's will to fight back, he proceeded to strip her in front of his men, giving her the greatest humiliation.

:p repetitive perhaps lol ..and grammatically offensive at that . but you know, this is actually a decent exercise for a rusty descriptive writer getting back into the habit, or for someone who would like to write but is intimidated by a full length work.

I'd like to see a thread honoring ryonani poetry and haiku! It could be interesting.

Power Girl sank to her knees as the kryptonite took its toll, rendering her helpless as Mercy prepared for the final blow.

The soft drizzle mingled with the drool that crept from Kasumi’s mouth and her face turned red as Ayane tightened the grip around her throat, wearing a smirk of satisfaction.

Samus gave out a hoarse cry as her power armor exploded around her and left the bounty hunter nearly naked under the space pirate’s leering gaze.

Jaycee’s entire body shuddered as her back smashed across king’s knee and she screamed nearly loud enough to drown out the terrible cracking of her spine… nearly.
