Hi all!
I know we have several threads pertaining to all different zako in all different video games and I think that’s perfectly necessary to discuss the specifics of a particular zako faction (Tenchu kunoichi, SR3 Morningstar, etc)
I wanted to create a central database where everyone can controbute and can list different video games that have female zako that can be eliminated either unconsciously or fatally, that way we have a central list to look at for different games we might want to consider trying out or even modding.
I also wanted to create this list because I’ve been writing fan fiction of these games lately, and wanted more zako to dabble with! Currently in a project that tells a story of Saints Row 3 from perspective of Lillian, a Morningstar soldier. Also have another story I’m playing with that’s a story version of “The Tower” mission in Sifu. Hoping to find more topics to write about!
I guess I’ll start. You don’t necessarily have to follow my format, but I think it would be nice to know where people can obtain these games to play while also noting if the zako can be killed or not, also if the game has to be modded in order to fight the zako (such as in MGS5).
Perfect Dark
Genre: FPS
System: Nintendo64, Xbox360 Arcade, PC (emulator only)
Zako: Female dataDyne guards
Desc: Women wearing black jacket, tight white riding pants, black heeled boots armed with shotguns or SMG in “dataDyne: Extraction” mission as well “Mr. Blonde’s Revenge”. Can be killed or eliminated by KO with fists during gameplay, there is also a cutscene where Joanna shoots two of them at the end of “dataDyne: Extraction”. Another fun thing to do is attack them with the “disarm” function of fists and pull out a gun, making them surrender and even plead things like, “Please don’t!” and “Don’t shoot!” Sometimes they’ll pull out a pistol, realize they can’t defeat you and throw the pistol down engaging a fun little animation of their legs trembling as they put their hands up. When you eliminate them, they can say things like, “Why me?” and “Why… urghhh…”
Final Fantasy IX
Genre: RPG
System: PlayStation 1/2, PC (Steam)
Zako: Alexandrian Soldiers
Desc: Women part of the Alexandrian Army under command of Beatrix. There are a few missions within the game where the player fights them but it is unclear if the defeat is fatal or not (as typical with Final Fantasy games). There is a cutscene, however, where Kuja uses Bahamut to destroy the Alexandrian navy ships, many of the cutscenes showing the soldiers trying to run and escape as the ship explodes, safe to assume many died in this battle.
Cyberpunk 2077
Genre: FPS, RPG
System: PC (Steam), Xbox One / Series X, PlayStation 4 / 5
Zako: Multiple factions
Desc: Almost all enemy factions in CP2077 has female enemies in it. From Arasaka guards to ninjas, to Valentino gangsters, to Barghest soldiers, the game has an endless supply of female thugs to fight against in almost all of the factions CP2077 has to offer in both the base game as well as the “Phantom Liberty” DLC. They can be eliminated fatally or non-lethally with clubs or fists or even from a chokehold from behind.
HITMAN: WoA (modded)
Genre: Shooter, RPG
System: PC (Steam)
Zako: Multiple missions
Desc: Base game has women that can be eliminated, but not zako type enemies. The “Attack of the Saints V4” mod on Nexus completely changes that and allows multiple missions to have female zako as guards. A must-have for zako enthusiasts, especially with the “play as NPC” mod which allows you to change into the character of the zako that you just eliminated, allows for a fun zako RP-like experience. Many known zako such as Shabazik’s “shik” as well as throwback characters to previous HITMAN games, such as Angelina Mason from Blood Money in the bird leotard and tights costume all become killable nameless zako in different missions. A must have! And yes, you can either kill them or knock them out, your choice!
Saints Row 2
Genre: RPG, Shooter
System: PS2, Xbox 360, PC (Steam - needs mods to optimize properly)
Zako: Multiple factions (Rōnin, Brotherhood, Samedi, Stillwater PD)
Desc: Considered by some as “the holy grail” of Saints Row, and for good reason, it is a super fun game! And for us, it’s just as exciting. Female zako exist in all enemy factions of the game, including Stillwater PD. Samedi thugs typically wear crop tops and khaki shorts, Brotherhood wearing leather pants and red leather vests, and PD in their police uniforms. Though my personal favorite are the Rōnin girls, especially in the variant where they have white yoga pants worn with their leather biker jackets. You can fight them with fists though the game is so basic that it likely recognizes it as a kill with the puddle of blood that forms under after they’re defeated, and points are offered as “gang kill”, though you can probably imagine things otherwise. Super fun game with lots of character customization with sliders to let you play as male, female, or any non-binary gender in between as all clothing is made for all genders (ie, could totally be a badass femboy as a guy wearing women’s clothes). For PC users, the game IS available on Steam but you NEED mods in order to make it work. Gentlemen of the Row is one, available in the Saints Row Mods forum, but there are other dependencies that you should get also to experience the least amount of crashes as possible.
Saints Row: The Third
Genre: RPG, Shooter
System: PS3, Xbox One, PC (Steam)
Zako: Morningstar & Decker factions
Desc: a game that certainly needs no introduction here but listed just for default shits and giggles! Morningstar factions has three female models as default henchwomen that will often spawn on the streets and during missions, wearing sexy lingerie as uniform with long tailcoats. Decker women are only specialists that come in at higher notoriety levels, wearing a black jacket with neon blue accents, miniskirt, torn fishnets, and boots that make them shoot across the map. Game does not seem to recognize non-lethal attacks and like SR2, recognizes as “gang kill” with each defeat. Another staple for zako lovers, mainly with the sexiness of the Morningstar ladies’ appearances. Player character can be binary male or female customizable, but not as flexible in terms of gender due to the elimination of the body type slider (body shape binary to each gender can be modified, though, such as wider hips, larger breasts or muscles).
Sifu
Genre: Fighting, martial arts.
System: PC (Epic Games), PS4 / 5, Xbox One / Series X, Nintendo Switch
Zako: Multiple factions/missions.
Desc: Female zako exist in pretty much every mission in Sifu, in all factions such as corporate guards, ninjas, or street thugs. Sifu focuses on martial arts so most eliminations can be non-fatal, but there is also a kodachi sword in some missions in the game that can be used to eliminate the zako. Though not explicitly mentioning if the zako is killed or not, many of the “takedown” eliminations using the kodachi imply the elimination to be fatal such as impaling through the stomach or slashing the throat. A mod exists on Nexus where all enemies can be changed to female models but still use male voices (I usually just pretend the male-voices zako are transgender :) ). The player character can be male or female, but a mod on Nexus allows the player to be any of the characters in the game as well as zako. Plus other character replacement mods also available, such as playing as Lillian from SR3. Really really fun game for the fighting lovers and LOTS of female zako to battle through, all different types of fighters and skill levels!
There’s more I’d love to add, such as games in the Watch Dogs and Far Cry series, but I have to run and figured this could be a good baseline start for anyone else that might have other games they might want to add!
