- Of the seven playable characters, three of them are female: Radiant Jen Zi, Scholar Ling and Wu the Lotus Blossom.
- Dawn Star and Silk Fox are two female followers who can join your party throughout the game. There is an implied sex scene if you choose to romance them near the end of the game. It is not possible to control either as they are completely driven by AI in combat.
- There are no throws or holds in the game, although there is a decent variety of animations for being hit and knocked down.
- Each female character has her own unique combat voice set.
- There are a number of status effects that cause your character to enter different animations, such as being blinded, immolated, or drained. Some simply freeze your character such as frozen or stunned.
- The camera control is practically nonexistent in the PC version. You're locked behind your character unless you're blocking. The moment you let go of block, the camera resets to its original position.
- There is horizontal camera control in the Xbox version.
- The voice work is great for ryona purposes. Each character has over a dozen different hit sounds for taking damage.
