Is there an option to send private messages? I want to send my email adress to one of the users and I don't want it to be public, but I can't find such option, only writing on his profile (which I guess will make message visible). Sorry, I know that probably solution is simple, I am just tto dumb to find it.

EDIT by moderator: For the record for anyone else who comes across this thread - the specific issue is that your account is too new. Our system is set up to prevent people from being able to send private messages before their account is a week old. This is specifically an anti-spammer procedure, so that spambots can't just make an account and start mass-DMing actual users.

Odd. Not sure why I'm not getting that issue since I just checked and I can use the "Start a new conversation" button in the envelope thing just fine. I'll look into it in case this is an actual issue.
As I said, the error disappeared once I sent a PM using the other method, so it may occur only on accounts where no PM was sent or received.
Note that I didn't 'press back, refresh the page, and try again' as said in the error message.

[EDIT]... mhhh, it seems to be a problem with all the buttons in fact... let me do some tests.

Samoth Samoth actually, the error also appeared when I tried to click on the account name, envelope, and bell, so it is probably not linked to new PMs.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to reproduce the steps that led to the error.

The one thing I saw floating around online from my brief research said something to the tune of "caching error", so I've reached out to Wreck to see what he can see.

The error seems to disappear if the page is refreshed, but as I said, I wasn't able to reproduce...

I don't compare sites because each one has its purpose. Might want to move your conversation somewhere else because this is really leaving the scope of the thread being about issues DMing people.

Samoth Samoth if only one user has an issue then it's most likely something client-side, like that thread suggests - browser caching. I might suggest to do the following:

- Log out from the forum
- Clear all data for the website (cookies, passwords, etc, browsers have this option that does not require nuking all cache)
- Log in again

It should disappear. If you leave a page open for a long time and try to initialize anything that requires a CSRF token - it will most likely cause this error again. Which is part of the operation. When you load any page on the forum a CSRF token is generated to prove authenticity and it has a lifetime. It may be required by certain parts of the website, like sending forms (like replying on a forum) or starting conversations.

I don't think we use any server-side caching. However if other users start frequently getting this error - let me know.
