How to send private messages? (1 Viewer)

Is there an option to send private messages? I want to send my email adress to one of the users and I don't want it to be public, but I can't find such option, only writing on his profile (which I guess will make message visible). Sorry, I know that probably solution is simple, I am just tto dumb to find it.

EDIT by moderator: For the record for anyone else who comes across this thread - the specific issue is that your account is too new. Our system is set up to prevent people from being able to send private messages before their account is a week old. This is specifically an anti-spammer procedure, so that spambots can't just make an account and start mass-DMing actual users.

This isn't really an actual problem, but I'll reply here so that if anyone else comes along with a similar question they might find this post and therefore the answer:

When you hover over the username of another person on the forum, a popup window that looks something like the below one will appear:

Within this window, select the "Start conversation" button. This opens the page that lets you send a private message to them.

Weird.
Can you post a screenshot of what you see?
In the interim. try this:
Near the top of the screen you should see your username. To the right of your username you should see an icon that looks like an envelope.. Click on it and it should bring up a mini-menu where you should see the words "Start a new conversation."

Same thing as above, literally my last post. By default, new accounts (those under 1 week old) cannot send private messages. It's possible to manually adjust users to be able to send them - in your case, I've done that now - but this system will be staying in place as an anti-spam measure. I don't know if spambots will actually try to send DMs, but making sure they have to be out in the open when they're trying to post spam nonsense makes it easier to zap them.

I just noticed that with my test account (joined May 25, 2025), it is possible to send them with the 'Start conversation' button on member's personal page, but there is an error if I try using the envelope button :

This error disappears once a private message has been sent or received.

Odd. Not sure why I'm not getting that issue since I just checked and I can use the "Start a new conversation" button in the envelope thing just fine. I'll look into it in case this is an actual issue.
