I don't know how familiar the majority of ryona enthusiasts are with Aeon Flux, but I didn't see a thread honoring Peter Chung's genius yet ...so:

Ryona content and more:

Originally, Aeon was total ryona fantasy fuel, failing during her missions and dying in every short clip.

In addition, Aeon and her nemesis Trevor enjoyed one of the few highly sexualized rivalries in animated fiction.

If you are well familiar with the magic in these cartoons, then please link your favorite episodes or fanarts.

Long Live the Monican Resistance..

I've actually got the whole series (along with the shorts) on DVD which I got pretty cheap one day. I don't recall where but yeah. There were a few good ones in there.

i love the first and second season. the third season was very interesting of course but it did not have the most important part of Aeon dying.

Aeon Flux was great, both as an experimental animated feature and as fetish fuel. "War" was my favorite episode, but you already linked it.

-edit- And "Gravity" was my second favorite! My third favorite was probably "Leisure".

It was the first Aeon Flux short I ever saw. I liked how that alien caught her in mid-jump, and then killed her just offscreen; the way the camera moves on as if nothing happened emphasizes the way the episode messed with your expectations (all episodes, at least from the first season, played heavily on anticipating and then averting narrative conventions), and the creepy squelching/moan leaves you wondering what exactly the monster did to her.

yes i have spent a lot of time thinking about what the alien did to her >:D Leisure might be my favorite episode because of that cry and the crunching sounds.
