Okay. This is my first attempt at creating any sort of dialogue in this game. And I have zero experience with any of this stuff. I'm literally learning every aspect of this as I go. So please be gentle with the criticism. lol
It is designed to be an automated audio dialogue with lots of talking and internal monologue. So it's a bit of a slow burn and you're just watching with no interaction. Kinda of like a visual novel movie, but in SDT and with sound. The sound files are definitely the low end of what can be accomplished these days. These were all generated with a free online TTS generator(aside from a couple sounds that were ripped from a video). It can definitely get a lot better if you're willing to put in the work with a better resource. I wasn't able to figure out a strong enough visual solution to differentiate between spoken dialogue and internal monologue, so I ended up using separate voices. I think the effect worked pretty good. But like I said, it could definitely be improved with a more legit TTS generator and/or voice cloning utility. This was like a proof of concept to see what could be done.
The pack is a slightly modified version of sby's latest loader. Big shout out to him for creating an awesome loader pack and to anyone on here and the discord who helped my dumb ass try to figure things out. I've got no problem with constructive criticism, or if anyone wants to play with it and improve things. Like I said, I have no idea what the hell I'm doing.
To use, just unzip the file. Click the play SDT Loader Flash10 shortcut. Once in game, go fullscreen, open the Naughty Neighbor character file under the scene tab, move the mouse pointer all the way to the left side of the screen and halfway up, and enjoy the movie. It would also be a good idea to turn off breathing, gagging and coughing in the settings tab as this is an audio dialogue and works much better with those turned off.
It's an auto dialogue and can be finicky. Any changes to any of the settings could break the dialogue. If you can't maintain near 30fps, the dialogue might hang up in a couple spots. If you can maintain close to 30fps and don't mess with the settings, it should work ok. At least in my testing.
SDT runs between 30-40fps on my PC and the speed of the scripted movements for the custom automation scenes were set to look good in that range. It was brought to my attention that the speeds look wholly different and a bit ridiculous for people running at 60fps. Unfortunately, I don't think there's much I can do about that. But if anyone with higher frame rates would like to change the speed to slow it down, I could provide a detailed walkthrough on how to change it or maybe release a modified dialogue.txt file. There were also some unintended passing out problems with higher FPS, but those have hopefully been fixed with V.02.
