Thrill Kill [Playstation]
Note : The game was never officially released because of its violent content, but almost-complete copies of it float around the internet. This article is based on the "Final" version (SLUS_007.52.003).

Finished : 1998
Genre : Fighting
Ryona rating : 4/5

Ryona:
  • Three distinctive female characters, one of which is a demon, out of a roster of eleven fighters.
  • Extremely violent game. Many moves are ruthless and extremely painful, and almost all make blood fly.
  • Ability to play against as many as three opponents simultaneously (as a team or each on his/her own). A single team grab is included.
  • Fully 3D movement with the camera not rushing to return to the original angle, allowing for viewing of a favourite move in almost any angle desired.
  • After each match, a Finishing Move can be performed by the winner. These range from violent fatalities (2 or 3 unique to each character) to extremely painful combos to powerful hits that either send them flying into the wall or their head (with or without the rest of their body) into the ceiling raining down blood.
  • Each character has at least three grabs (two from the front, one from the back).
  • Downed characters can be hit.
  • Each character has five costumes.

Gameplay note:
Unlike most fighting games, there is no health bar. Instead, each hit raises the fighter's Power bar. Once it's full,
  • If fighting against more than one opponent, the Powered-Up character has several seconds to close in on one of them and press any button to violently finish them off.
  • If fighting against one opponent, the Powered-Up character has several seconds to close in on that opponent and perform his/her fatality on them.
In both cases, if the Powered-Up character does not manage to finish off their opponent in time (a rare occurrence) , his/her Power bar is half-drained and the game resumes where it left off.

Female Characters:
  • Belladonna wields an electrifying fork which she loves to use against her opponents. She also has very flexible kicks. Her costumes consist of two short-skirted nurse outfits (white and black) , a leopard-like bikini (complete with tail) , a black-leather spandex and a cowgirl outfit.
  • Violet is a sadistic contortionist ; that much is apparent from several of her grabs/fatalities, and also her moves, as she often disjoints her own ankles/knees etc during her attacks for maximum power. One of her grabs has her punch her opponent's nether area four times hard. Her costumes include a see-through shirt and a mime outfit.
  • Marukka is a demon-lady, complete with wings which she can flap to throw her opponent all the way through the stage. She has sharp claws in her hands and feet, and even utilises her head's horns as weapons.

The rest of the characters:
  • Oddball is a mentally insane psycopath whose arms are tied behind his back (or cut off, depending on his costume). He is still a very effective fighter through his legs, head and torso.
  • Tormentor is a master of pain, clad in a full-leather outfit and mask and wielding a chain to deadly effect.
  • Mammoth is a huge ape-like creature whose punches send ripples throughout the stage. One of his grabs has him headlock-choke his opponent to near-death!
  • Dr.Faustus is a crazy surgeon wielding two scalpels... using which he likes to practice his "specialty" on his opponents.
  • Judas is a creature whose body from the waist down mirrors his body from the waist up ; ie he has two torsos, two heads and two pairs of arms, the lower of which he uses to walk. He fights using boxing moves.
  • The Imp is a short man who walks on two wooden stilts - he likes using them to pummel his opponents with.
  • Cain is a man (or skeleton, depending on the costume) who controls fire and can use it to crisp his opponents to ashes.
  • Cleetus is a cannibalistic killer who fights holding a severed leg in his hand, often uppercutting his opponents with it. During the match, he can eat portions of this meat to increase his power, and has no qualms about grabbing and eating his opponent's leg either... or their head!
