I'm going to continue to use this thread to post major updates and changes pushed through by the staff. They're like patch notes. \o/
Some quality of life changes regarding old links.
I've been over the fact that there was no way to redirect all old links to their proper destinations, but there were some things that were salvageable. I did a little bit of dirty coding to accomplish the following:
GVZ links will attempt to redirect to the correct threads on UTC. If it can't find the correct thread, it will redirect to the homepage. This dataset was the best candidate for this due to the way the URL rewrites were setup and it's only possible to do this with one dataset.
Links to Ryonani will attempt a search based on keywords in the friendly URL that's forwarded. If there are no keywords or it is not a human readable URL, it will simply redirect to the UTC homepage.
All links to SDTMods will simply redirect to the SDT modding subforum. Unfortunately, there wasn't much that could be done with this dataset as it never had friendly URLs/URL rewriting enabled before the migration.
No further work on this system is planned at this time.
The Content Creator group is now active. You will be automatically promoted to this group if you have at least one approved resource on the Resource Manager. Once you're in this group, you will no longer have to wait for a staff member to approve your uploads. The check for the automatic promotion only occurs once every hour so if you don't get bumped up right away, give it a minute. Then possibly 58 more if you're unlucky.
The Modder group from GVZ has been rolled into the Content Creator group.
Members are now allowed to change their usernameonce per year. This is a gimme if you signed up with a username you later realized you really shouldn't have. Your new username will be the one you login with. Xenforo doesn't separate username and display name like some other forum platforms.
This is a privacy function, not a vanity function.
As stated on the registration page, the staff have been directed to disregard requests regarding username changes or to have accounts deleted. Don't use this for 'fun' and verify what you're changing it to. You have been warned.
To effectively delete your account here, change your username to something completely decoupled from your identity and disable e-mail notifications. The site holds no personal information about you besides an e-mail address, which is not required to be valid and is never displayed to anyone. Manage your privacy settings here.
Reminder to everyone to bubble up technical issues to staff. This has been occurring for almost 2 weeks and it only got reported today.
Advertisements will be on the site again due to some unforeseen financial burdens. You are free to use ad-blockers and I won't be implementing any code that detects ad-blockers to pester you to turn it off.
If you find them bothersome, block them.
If you don't mind them and you want to passively support the site, don't block them.
Resource Manager Reviews:
We've disabled anonymous reviews on the RM in an attempt to curb non-constructive criticism.
Disabled the Flash-based uploader globally as Chrome and Firefox are discontinuing support for it and are blocking it by default. A HTML5 based uploader is now active through the rich-text editor. You can still use the basic uploader for single files and the Resource Manager.
There's been an outstanding issue with DNS on the server that was causing e-mail sends to fail. Not sure how long it's been going on, but probably about a week. I've setup monitoring for this now so I can see when it happens.
I've disabled the Flash based IRC chat module on the server in favor of the Java-based Mibbit client. Chrome/Firefox have announced that they're dropping support for it and it's basically been shunned by Adobe themselves at this point. While it may have been working for some people, it was going to break sometime this year so I'm just switching it now.
- Patched XF up to 1.5.14
- Patched RM to 1.2.4
- IRC has been completely retired
- HTLM5 Uploader is used everywhere on the site now and has a progress bar (wow, technology!)
- The Flash uploader has been disabled
- Automatic member pruning has been tweaked a bit
- Cloudflare was enabled, but then was disabled again due to some sort of SSL issue. I'll revisit it at a later time. This means the RM max upload size has been increased back to 1 GB temporarily until this is fixed.
I'm playing around with some bandwidth limiting controls so I apologize if the site randomly bogs down for a minute, still tweaking the settings to get it to play nice.
Also you Ryona boys may have noticed the old wiki entries from awhile back are sitting at the bottom of the forum. I'm not planning to do anything with it until the possible move over to IPB, but figured I'd open it back up for viewing and whatnot.
Linking your account will automatically join you to the Discord server if you're not already joined and will also enable site notifications to be sent to you via Discord DMs. You can manage what notifications get sent to Discord here:

There is now a seamless style switcher (light to dark theme) in the top right menu:
The first version of the donations box modification on the Resource Manager has been added
It's not quite the original plan I had, but I think this is a good placeholder solution until something a bit more streamlined is finished
You can now setup a "donation box" in your account preferences page. Feel free to include links/instructions on ways people can support your work. What you enter there will be displayed on all your listings on the Resource Manager automatically and don't have to be set per resource
It's a rich-text field that supports BBCode, but please try to keep it short and sweet
