Has anyone considered, or done maybe, just remaking - not literally of course - SDT variants? Like, an updated version, of sorts? For instance, a RWBY version with the needed tools for all the extra facets and costumes that's just part of the game?

What your talking about are called 'Loader Packs' or 'Bundles'. I've seen ones for lol and mlp as well as one with like 666 characters but can't seem to find them. Maybe some else can help.
They're not hard to make and I defiantly encourage you to make one for all the RWBY characters.

So far, the easiest remake I can think of is what we have here on this website.
Mods, Mods, Mods, And loaders for those mods.
Back when SDT was a simple flash game, mods have literally revived the very game itself too some degree.
That is the best answer so far, although..
Their is a beta of SDT2 I believe.
Its completely 3d however, and so far the first SDT flash has way more content these days.
