Hi whenever i get the loader i go into the files and the loader is with window explorer (Image: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet)
Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer are two different applications. Your Windows Explorer wants to use Internet Explorer in order to open SWF files, because Windows Explorer does not know of any better way to deal with them.

and i can't see a way to open it with that flash thing even tho i have it because if i just download normal SDT it allows me to play through the flash projector (image: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet)
The core SDT game is distributed as a standalone executable -- the actual game is packaged together with a copy of the Flash Player projector into a single EXE file.

You should download a copy of the Flash Player projector tool from the Adobe website. You'll then be able to run this new application and open up any file you choose -- such as Loader.swf, but also SWF movie clips or games (Fenoxo's games, for example). You can also setup a file type association in Windows Explorer, so that the Flash Player projector will automatically be used whenever you double-click on a SWF file.

If you're having trouble then you could also download sby's Loader Pack. sby has helpfully provided a copy of the Flash Player projector tool alongside his content files. You need only double-click the "play SDT Loader" shortcut file in order to get started.

I downloaded that and installed it
No, you didn't install it. It doesn't have an installer. It's simply an EXE file which exists on your local disk.

but it still wants me to use internet explorer
If you want it to do anything then you must manually setup a file type association between SWF files and the new EXE file.
  • right-click a SWF file
  • choose "Open With"
  • click on "Choose another App"
  • browse for the Flash Player executable
  • specify that Windows should "Always use this app to open SWF files"
If you get stuck then you might find it easier to use sby''s Loader Pack instead.
