Chapter 1: Crossing the Bridge

Ryon is returning to his home after investigating Kuroya, a criminal syndicate that is wreaking havoc across the land. As he rushes back under the cover of darkness, he came across a bridge, which is being guarded by two Kuroya ninja guards: one male and one female. There’s no way around it. The male ninja is armed with metal claws, while the kunoichi is armed with dual tanto. They seem to be your average Kuroya mooks.

As the swordsman showed up from the shadows, the male ninja exclaimed, “Halt there!”.

The swordsman prepared for the battle, the two ninjas did the same. The male ninja made the first move and lunged forward to slash Ryon with his metal claws. In the same time, the kunoichi tried to move behind Ryon, they planned to encircle and attack Ryon. Luckily, the range is on Ryon’s side. The swordsman parried off the male ninja’s attack. As the kunoichi came close, Ryon turned and attacked the kunoichi with a back kick, hitting her right in the stomach. She let out a moan, was send back and writhed, barely standing. Seeing an opening, the male ninja moved forward to make a desperate attack. However, Ryon saw the incoming. Before his claws reached Ryon, Ryon already swung his sword toward his direction, and with a slash, cut his hands off. “Argggg---”, he screamed in horror.

The Kuroya guards knew Ryon clearly outmatch them and are now petrified. The kunoichi dropped her weapons and come down on her knees, begging, “We surrendered, spare us!”

The male ninja followed, “Mr. Swordsman. If you let us go, we won’t tell a single word to anyone you were here.”

Ryon knew Kuroya were a bunch of lowly thugs, but this is pathetic. Ryon walked toward the male ninja. The ninja continued, “I will tell you anything I know, please spare us…”

His plea fell on dead ears. Ryon rose his sword. The ninja continued, “Please, spare me. My hands are decapitated, I am not a threat to you. Kill that bitch first. She still has her hands…”

Before the ninja finished, the swordsman cut him in half. “Pathetic”, Ryon said.
