Uraraka Ochako:

Most of these only need to be static but feel free to try dynamic if you really want to, I wont stop you. Costume mods are also great of course.

Part of the reason why there aren't more mods is because we lack Reference Images. It's unlikely that this thread in its current state will change things, because the images that you've found simply aren't very good.

The key word here is "found". You searched on the internet for images which had already been uploaded or shared by other people. That's okay as a first step. In most cases the material didn't satisfy the requirements for SDT mods. The problem is that that posted it anyways. You didn't comb through the suggested sources (such as imageboards, fanart sites, artbooks, etc), nor did you watch the show and take screen captures. I will concede that those secondary options are much more time-consuming than a Google Image search ... but that's the point!

Creating a SDT mod involves time and effort. A lone artist can potentially do all of the whole by themselves, but this option is fairly daunting (especially when dealing with a large group of characters). We encourage regular users to get involved and thus lighten the workload for artists. A Request thread is not just a way of saying "I would like for these mods to exist." It should instead say "I have put in some preparatory work, and I've proven that these ideas are technically feasible as SDT mods. I can't complete the project by myself, so I'm sharing my initial work in the hope that someone will be able to make these mods a reality."

By volunteering to handle the preparatory work by yourself, you demonstrate respect for SDT artists. You remove a boring/tedious task, and allow them to focus on the more creative and interesting parts of their work. You prove that there's an audience for the end product (i.e. "some crazy guy on the internet spent ten hours gathering screenshots of anime girls ... so if I spend ten hours creating a mod then he's sure to appreciate it"). A Request thread which includes usable images is more likely to be fulfilled, whereas an incomplete Request thread is more likely to be ignored.

One of the reference images in your collection was created by an Undertow user for a previous request thread. Note that @UndeadLick did not just post the first few images that he found via Google. He watched a few episodes of the show, took screenshots at appropriate moments, and even flipped his images horizontally so they would show the correct orientation for SDT (note: that last step isn't really necessary, but it's appreciated nonetheless).

If you'd like this Request to have the best chance of success, then I would encourage you to follow @UndeadLick's example.
  • you can remove Ochaka Uraraka from your list, since we already have a thread for her.
    • if you run across any additional reference shots for her, then please feel free to post them in the existing thread.
  • rewatch the anime and take note of episodes and scenes (or even specific timestamps) during which the female characters are shown in profile.
  • switch to a high-definition video file, and then take screen captures of the profile shots which you've previously identified.
    • if possible, please disable subtitles and save the images in PNG format so that they'll retain more detail.
  • if you can't obtain good screen-captures for a particular girl, then browser through secondary sources (such as fanart).
  • organize your post so that the images for each girl are grouped together.
    • you've already done well on this point ... so just keep at it :)
  • for each character or item, please include a clear description of what you're asking for (such as a charcode, PNG hairstyle, dynamic SWF hairstyle, SWF clothing mod with RGB slider support, and so on).
    • of course you can ask for multiple items for a single character (such as a hairstyle, mask, charcode, hero costume, civilian clothing, etc) so long as you've provided reference images to support each item.
  • if you're going to ask for costumes then please provide really good reference images (with clear shots of the sleeves, shoes, shoulders, collar, etc).
    • don't just post one full-body image. Give us a variety of side-view shots so that we can see the complete details (especially cloth folds, shading details, buttons/zipper/laces/straps/etc).
    • if you're asking for breast-slider support, then please try to find images with the same costume being worn by smaller and larger girls.
  • you're free to post animated GIFs, front-view images, videogame screenshots, etc ... as supplementary materials. But please ensure that you've the high-quality side-view reference images appear first.
  • please upload your files to an imagehost website such as imgur or postimage. Avoid hotlinks and file attachments.

  • [Future Item] if the request thread seems to be stalled then you can tackle some of the tasks by yourself after learning the necessary skills.
    • A talented artist can re-imagine a character design to fit the SDT art style while preserving or embellishing the most important details, and thus produce a beautiful PNG hairstyle. An amateur can't hope to match that accomplishment, but we can create PNG files simply by cropping and erasing all of the "not hair" parts of a reference image, and then fitting it onto the template.
    • SWF mods usually require an Adobe software license, but there are workarounds which can be used if you're sufficiently dedicated.
    • Even if modders don't volunteer work on your request (e.g. because they simply don't like Boku no Hero Academia), you'll find that most people are happy to offer support and technical assistance to a novice modder. Someone might be willing to tackle a difficult modding task on your project, simply because they want to "show you how it's done."

As you gather the necessary reference material and descriptions, please feel free to Edit your first post and share your work with Undertow. You can then reply to this thread when you're satisfied with the state of things -- when you're ready for artists to step in and begin working on your idea. Of course, you can also reply if you have questions about the Request process, or image-hosting, or whatever.

I'm guessing you read Stuntcock's message, since you posted a modified version of the sole reference listed in the Ochaka thread he linked to... but if you did - why didn't you add new reference images to that thread?

well to put it bluntly it seemed like no one was going to take acton so if i added another pic maybe the hair would be considered more, plus the pic that i edited only had the one side view to make it simple for editors
