Having issues deleting old custom Loader characters and reverting to ONLY Loader v5.45d characters (1 Viewer)

Hi, I just started using this program and am kind of overwhelmed, but things were going pretty smoothly up to this point. I first downloaded a custom Loader filled with many characters/hairstyles/etc ( the 666 girls for Mod Loader)

I decided it was too much to take in at once so opted for Modguy's 5.45d loader, but for some reason the characters from 666 girls custom loader are still appearing in the character select box under the Scene options. I made sure to delete the custom loader, but they are still showing up and it's interfering with the moreclothingmods I installed - plus I don't want to cycle through 666 broken character slots every time I use the program... It lets me pick one of the old custom characters, but when I do a completely different character shows up and it says that all of the files are missing and to enter them manually (of course they're missing- I deleted them and they were on a completely different Loader!!)

I understand that there is a character list backup option which I can use to overwrite the old character lists, but I can't find one in Modguy's loader. Not even sure if that would fix the problem since I'm still feeling my way around this program.

Anyone know how to fix this? Is there a config file somewhere that I'm missing or something which is confusing Modguy's Loader? Thanks.

I'm using a Mac by the way, with Flash Player Debugger 11.6.602.180 (11.6).

Edit: I just uninstalled/reinstalled Modguy's Loader, and the broken character slots are still there. No clue what's going on.

Completely reinstalled the flash player, made sure to delete prefs etc, and the phantom files are still there! I'm actually impressed at this point. Hopefully someone more experienced can figure this out.

The character list backup option is in regular SDT. There's a button for it in the third tab, on the bottom right.

Sometimes I get problems with broken character slots too, though. In particular, when I delete an old character file and reload the game, sometimes the file will be there again. Other times, character files will end up with the contents of another character file, but keep their names. And once or twice, my client would for whatever reason fail to overwrite files when I loaded an old backup, even with the "overwrite" button checked, so I ended up with multiple copies of every file. I had to delete all the duplicates manually.

I don't know why this happens, but it's simple enough to get around it by taking backups every once in a while.

The roster was originally contained in SOL files, which are files generated on your hard drive when a Flash app attempts to save anything (such as options settings, high scores, saved games, etc).

Later on, @ModGuy added the ability to use Character Folders (refer to the Newbie Guide for more information). Character Folders require out-of-game setup and manipulation. They're more flexible than a "vanilla" saved-character entry, and much easier to share than a SOL file. However, they're not relevant to the problem that you're currently experiencing.

The storage is path-sensitive. You can potentially have two or more copies of a Flash game on your PC. So long as they're in different folders, they'll save to (and read from) separate SOL files.

If you delete a Flash game, the SOL file will persist. If you subsequently reinstall a fresh copy of that game in the exact same folder then the "new" game will read from the "old" SOL file. Hence, the unwanted characters will appear in your roster.

I understand that there is a character list backup option which I can use to overwrite the old character lists, but I can't find one in Modguy's loader. Not even sure if that would fix the problem since I'm still feeling my way around this program.
"Modding" tab of the in-game menu. It won't really help, though. It would merely save the current roster (e.g. 600+ broken character definitions) into an external text file.

Anyone know how to fix this? Is there a config file somewhere that I'm missing
Not really. There's a Settings entry to remove the default characters (SD Chan, Rei, Peach, etc).

The simplest answer is "move your entire SDT folder to a different place" or "rename your SDT folder". Alternatively, if you're willing to spend a few minutes then you could probably find and delete the old SOL file. Deleting it would effectively wipe/reset all of your saved information (including the characters).

FIGURED IT OUT - I deleted my Firefox browsing settings thinking it would do nothing, and the characters disappeared! Can anyone make sense of this? I've never even used SDT with my browser...

You tried deleting the browsing settings of a client that had nothing to do with your game, but you didn't try looking on the third page of the menu?

I saw the backup option but there was no character list in Modguy's folder to revert to, that's what I was referring to. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Also - deleting the browsing data fixed the issue - like I said - so it obviously had something to do with the game, not sure you caught that.

copied from my loader pack notes:
"If you use Firefox and automatically clear your cookies and local storage, i would suggest getting the add-on 'BetterPrivacy' and choosing to protect your SDT Loader .sol files. otherwise your in-game characters and settings may be deleted by your browser."

this is because firefox can clear the flash player local storage, which is the same storage space that the standalone flash player uses

unless they use the overwrite option and load a different char backup
