If you have a code.txt file, then it belongs inside a Character Folder. You can read about Character Folders in the
newbie guide. The key idea is that Character Folders
must be edited directly. If you want to change something about a saved character, you must
tinker with the files within that girl's subfolder.
Pressing the
Save Character button within the GUI
will not have any effect on a Character Folder. The SDT in-game menu edits the SOL configuration file (which is used by the vanilla SDT game to store custom character definitions). Character Folders are a Loader feature -- they get spliced into the same roster, but they
cannot be edited in-game.
The in-game GUI can be used to fine-tune the character's appearance (e.g. skin tone, breast size) and to try out various SWF mods. But once you've made these decisions, you must generate the charcode (and copy-paste it into
code.txt) or copy-paste the SWF files into the folder (and mention them in
mods.txt).
