Yes, characters with duel knife have a grab skill that make a phantom partner to grab target from back, and then main char punch the target many times in stomach.

Characters with sword can impale target on ground many times.

after working at this for a couple hours i couldnt get the game to start

making a qq account and getting it all setup was easy(theres alot of guides, even if they dont pertain to this particular game)
doing some light reading it looks like the game-specific version of tenprotect(their version of hackshield) doesnt work with win 8.1

Yes, that doesn't work with win 8.1.
This is a silly problem by Tencent co for a long time. even with Blade & Soul.
Many Chinese players are conplaining about it.

Hello, I am currently playing Blade & Soul (chinese version). In order to run it, you need chinese locale settings. It might be needed for this game as well. Maybe aplocate might help too.

I am going to try to install and start Dao Jian 2 tomorrow :D
