Hello
kuja025
. Welcome to the Undertow forum.
Thank you for taking the time to write out this post. I know that it can be intimidating to "put yourself forward" in this manner, and potentially face criticism (or rejection, or silence). Kudos for doing it anyways. You might
not get much of a response on Undertow, since we aren't a very active hub of game development. But that's no problem -- at worst, you can simply copy-paste your post to other forums (or send it directly to various project leaders, developers, etc). For example: Lemmasoft has a fairly active
recruitment board.
I work as a senior designer somewhere and I'm also an amateur hentai artist with some free time per day for the next months that are to come and I would like to enter on a project as a side/backup artist.
You're probably already aware of this - but most games try to present a unified artistic style across the whole experience. Hence, the team leader might
not allow you to draw one or two particular CG scenes - because your style would clash with that of the primary artist (and confuse the audience). They might instead ask you to draw
all of the art for a specific game feature - such as battle sprites, UI/menu elements, overworld map, loading screens, etc. The work might not even be pornographic, even though it's intended for inclusion in a porn game. If you see this as a learning opportunity (or a foot-in-the-door starting point) then it should be okay. If you're hoping to do full-time lewd stuff from Day 1 then you might be disappointed.
I entered on some game projects in the past but they all failed due to the lack of programmers/incentive, lack of skill/knowledge or correct management. But here I am again, with faith in hands
You have the right attitude :)
trying to work on what I like most: 2D games.
It may be worthwhile to elaborate on this point. Your tumblr suggests that you enjoy drawing erotic images (which would fit nicely into a Visual Novel). But there are many other genres within "2D hentai games", such as platformers, dating sims, management games. I've done some modding work for a game called
Super Deepthroat which is
technically 2D ... but it involves artwork tasks which are very different from those of a visual novel.
It might be useful to describe your interests (i.e. the type of projects that you'd like to be involved in) or your professional goals (i.e. you really want to learn animation or pixel art, or you hope to be a full-time hentai artist within two years) or your erotic tastes and limits (e.g.
"I like big butts. Please don't ask me to draw skinny chicks. I'm fine with man-on-man action. I can't draw lolis for legal reasons. I prefer to work with modern themes rather than sci-fi or fantasy.")
It would also be useful to provide general "team" information - such as languages written/spoken, timezone availability, prefered artwork program(s), prefered communication tools, maximum and minimum commitment (e.g.
"I can't work more than 15 hours per week, but I won't accept less than 5"), and any additional technical skills that you might possess (such as audio mixing, video editing, programming, server management, etc). If you're worried about privacy then you can withhold such details until after you've made initial contact with someone.
Good luck with your search!
